Lynnor B. Stevenson, Ph. D.
Sandra L. Shotwell, Ph. D.


Lynnor Stevenson has been associated with more than ten start-up companies as founder, officer, director and/or advisor. Five of these are now public; another three were acquired. She has advised small and large companies both domestic and international on technology evaluation and acquisition, research institutions and faculty on spin-out company formation, and investors on evaluation of deals.

She was the founding President of Heska Corp., a biotechnology-based animal health company developing novel diagnostics, therapeutics and vaccines for diseases in cats and dogs. Heska (HSKA: Nasdaq) had over $50 million sales in 2002. Dr. Stevenson currently serves on the Heska Board of Directors.

From 1992 to 1997 Dr. Stevenson served as Professor and Director of Technology Transfer at the University of Oregon where she assisted in the creation of five companies. Dr. Stevenson earned a Ph. D. in Biochemistry from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia and was a Post-doctoral Fellow at Stanford University School of Medicine.

Sandra L. Shotwell, Ph.D. Founder and Managing Partner, Alta Biomedical Group Sandra Shotwell is a senior business consultant with 20 years of experience in technology commercialization, management, regional economic development and spinout company formation. She established and led the National Institutes of Health Technology Licensing Branch, which included responsibility for the Centers for Disease Control and the Food and Drug Administration. She directed the Oregon Health Science University Office of Technology Research and Collaborations, spinning out half a dozen companies. Dr. Shotwell also served as Technology Licensing Associate for Stanford’s Office of Technology Licensing, and worked as an internal technology management advisor to the Director General of the European Union's Joint Research Centre.

Dr. Shotwell co-founded Alta Biomedical Group in 2000, and has worked on a variety of consulting projects for public and private clients in the U.S. and internationally. A former board member for Virogenomics, Inc. and the Association of University Technology Managers, Dr. Shotwell currently serves on the board of directors of the Stanford OTL Gap Fund, the Oregon Bioscience Association, and the International Sustainable Development Foundation. Dr. Shotwell did neuroscience research as an undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral fellow at Princeton University, Caltech and Stanford University.
